The Cleantech Switzerland remit
Cleantech Switzerland has been commissioned by Osec, which is responsible for Swiss foreign trade promotion, to develop export sales by the Cleantech sector. To fulfill this mandate, Cleantech Switzerland provides Swiss Cleantech Companies sector with information, services and contacts and thereby supports their entry into target markets for Cleantech around the world.

Categories of data held
  • Data on users of the platform
    In order to carry out the remit and develop export sales activity, data on users registered with the platform are collected and processed by Cleantech Switzerland. Registered users of the platform include Swiss Cleantech Companies which draw on the services of Cleantech Switzerland and its network of partners i.e. contact points abroad. The services comprise the following:

o   advice and consultancy services

o    provision of information

o   event and exhibition services


  • Data on members of the Association
    Cleantech Switzerland is constituted as an Association under Swiss law (ref. 60 ff. ZGB). When an organization becomes a member of the Association, data provided by the member are collected  Cleantech Switzerland and used to support export sales activity and for communications between the Association and its members.
Types of data held
In addition to generally available information such as names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses, data from Association members and platform users relating to the number of employees, areas of activity, product information and information on activity in foreign countries are also collected and processed.  

Provision of data to third parties
Data on platform users which is already available in the public domain will only be passed to a third party where this is necessary to enable provision of a service.

Cleantech Switzerland may provide data on Association members and platform users to third parties for processing on its own behalf but, when doing so, will always ensure the third party respects data protection requirements.

Information
Members of the Association and platform users may be contacted by Cleantech Switzerland, its contact points abroad and networks operating in an alliance with  Cleantech Switzerland at home or abroad during the period of their membership or use of Cleantech services and thereafter by letter, telephone, and e-mail and updated on general business activity. Any parties wishing not to receive information and updates can make this known to Cleantech Switzerland.

Cleantech Switzerland will update platform users and members regularly with market information, business opportunities, events and exhibitions etc via a Newsletter sent by e-mail. Any members or users not interested in receiving the Newsletter can unsubscribe from the service at any time.

Collection and exchange of information to fulfill the remit
  • Handling of data entered by platform users
    Cleantech Switzerland provides a number of online platforms which enable users to enter information on their interests in respect of particular products, markets and business openings. This facilitates “Match-Making” (the matching of potential supply of goods and services available from Switzerland with demand in the market abroad) and ensures information on business openings, trends, investment and export opportunities sent to the user is as relevant as possible. Part of the Cleantech Switzerland database is publicly accessible in order to disseminate information to relevant markets. Some data are not publicly available. These may be used in country-reports (for Embassies, Swiss Business Hubs) and reports to sector associations (Cleantech Switzerland’s members).
  • Handling of data captured by Cleantech Switzerland
    Cleantech Switzerland uses a CRM database to support its activities. This comprises information on organizations, individuals and projects. The database can be updated by a range of information sources at home and abroad. The database can be accessed by the staff of Cleantech Switzerland only. Connecting individual strands of information in this way generates a comprehensive overview of Cleantech Switzerland’s service-users and partners and their linkage to other organizations within the system. Data of this comprehensive and detailed nature require secure and careful handling.
Scope of data processing, data security
In order to perform its mandate, Cleantech Switzerland needs to exchange data. Cleantech Switzerland is aware of the requirement to handle sensitive data appropriately. Data will only be used for the purpose described when they were obtained, for the performance of necessary tasks or for compliance with legal requirements. Cleantech Switzerland will continually check the accuracy and completeness of the data it holds and update these on an on-going basis. Data capture and data processing will comply with Swiss law on data protection (DSG; SR 235.1) and the federal law on unfair competition (UWG; SR 241). Data will be collected in as far as they are required for Cleantech Switzerland to fulfill its mandate. Data which is no longer required will be destroyed. Cleantech Switzerland will take appropriate measures to ensure data security. Cleantech Switzerland will restrict access to confidential information to only those staff who require it in order to carry out the work of Cleantech Switzerland.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web-analysis tool provided by Google Inc. Members and customers of Cleantech Switzerland can request information on whether data about them have been processed and request access to the data, in line with Article 8 of the Swiss law on data protection (DSG).
